BeeSports Management was part of an International organisation with a large IT department in Texas, USA. After a management buyout BeeSports had to adapt to the limited budget of a small business. BeeSports provide management systems through software development to key sports organisations in the UK and therefore have a high level of computer literacy compared to many small businesses; they still relied on an internal IT administrator for day-to-day maintenance and problem solving needs. BeeSports felt that the IT administrator was an expensive resource that could not cope with multiple simultaneous problems. Often solutions were required that were beyond the administrator’s skill set. BeeSports decided to investigate the potential for outsourcing to see if their objectives of cost saving and improved support levels could be achieved.
